COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM
In order to promote social tourism in the city, São Sebastião City Hall established the state's pioneering Community-Based Tourism Support Law. One of the programs, called Rota Caiçara, offers a three-hour boat trip from Boiçucanga beach, providing an immersion in local tradition. During the tour, visitors have the opportunity to interact with the locals and enjoy breakfast made with local ingredients, such as coffee brewed in rapadura and taioba dumplings. The tour, guided by local fishermen, includes points such as the floating enclosure - where the fishing technique that resembles a labyrinth in the sea is explained - and Ilha dos Gatos, chosen by the Rockefeller family to build a house during the Second World War, the ruins of which can still be seen today.

KAYAK
TRIP
The tour begins on the Una River, with its dark-colored waters, which gives the river its name, since Una in Tupi means dark. On this tour you will board on a kayak and set sail to an adventure in fresh water, right at the foot of the Serra do Mar State Park. A spot where there are several sandy beaches for swimming, snorkeling, swimming, resting and contemplating the rich vegetation of the Atlantic Forest. The route goes as far as Barra do Una beach and the tourism agencies also offer the option of a canoe or stand-up paddle. It's an amazing activity for those who like to observe nature from a different point of view.

STRUCTURED TRAILS
With astonishing beauty and the presence of the Atlantic Forest, Serra do Mar and Coastal Zone ecosystems, hiking São Sebastião's structured trails guarantees you an incredible and satisfying experience. A great option is the Ribeirão de Itu Trail. Open to visitors, the trail consists of two waterfalls. The first one is divided into two parts, Hidromassagem and Pedra Lisa, the latter being considered the highest waterfall on the trail at approximately 20 meters high. The second fall, called Samambaiaçu, is a bit more difficult to reach, as the access trail is steeper and has uneven sections. The effort of the trail is compensated for by the lush vegetation, beautiful waterfalls and natural pools that nature offers to the visitors.

SPEEDBOAT
TRIP
The 'As Ilhas' speedboat tour takes us to discover São Sebastião's most charming islands. You’ll get to sail on calm waters and get a glimpse of the local culture through the sailor's stories. On Ilha dos Gatos (formerly owned by the Rockefeller family), you can take a dip to see the shoals that live on the hillside, as well as walk along the rocks and bathe in the natural pool that forms between them. On Couves Island, you'll discover the natural pool and the charms of the island, which is also great for snorkeling. And finally, you’ll reach a place called As Ilhas, where there’s a paradise beach with white sands and crystal-clear water, great for swimming and snorkeling with the fish.
